(APS) – The second edition of the Energy-Climate Week held in Saly (Mbour) from July 31 to August 5 is a framework that offers a unique opportunity to put into perspective the challenges related to  "inclusive, coordinated and integrated climate action" through a paradigm shift in production methods, said Tuesday the director of the NGO Enda-energy, Emmanuel Seck.

What we are looking for, by organizing this event, is to achieve a paradigm shift, a change towards a carbon-free and resilient world, which requires that we massify the process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, he said on the sidelines of the activities initiated within the framework of this event whose theme is: "A just and sustainable transition led by non-state actors."

To this end, he suggested , by way of example, the establishment of milk collection and processing units.  "This, according to him, will allow farmers, affected communities and often vulnerable to climate change, to have a response to the valorization, processing, but also storage of dairy products".

Mr. Seck specified that the solutions that must be provided,  "must be responses at the community level, before aspiring to strengthen the resilience of these communities".

Open Tuesday in Saly,  the second edition of the Energy-Climate Week will continue until Saturday.

Exchanges and discussions will focus on the territorialization of climate policies and local actions.  Climate finance, energy and agroecological transition or climate negotiation as well as advocacy to be made at the COP28 scheduled in Dubai (Qatar), are also topics on the agenda of this meeting, according to the organizers.
