The main objective of the locally driven adaptation session is to strengthen learning, sharing and practice of locally driven adaptation and to ensure that meaningful, bottom-up and participatory approaches are used in the LLA scaling processes and taken into account by the NDC.

The workshop will be a framework for sharing experience based on three (3) all case studies: thecase study of the climate-smart village of Daga Birame, the case study of the coastal erosion control project in Dionewar and the case study of heatwave adaptation in Widdou Thingoly.

 

Objectives

The overall objective of this session is to share the various scientific products produced as part of the research project "Climate Adaptation, Strategies, Practices and Initiatives: Challenges and Directions in Senegal" focused on locally led adaptation in connection with the NDC.  Specifically, the objectives are to:

  • Share les différents produits scientifiques du projet de recherche axé sur l’action climatique en rapport avec la mise en œuvre de la CDN au Sénégal ;
  • Collect recommendations from stakeholders for a better valuation and dissemination of the results obtained to strengthen the climate governance process;
  • Discuss the prospects of the APRI and ENDA-Energy research project in Senegal.

Expected outcomes

The main expected outcomes of the workshop are:

  • the various scientific products of the climate action research project related to the implementation of the NDC in Senegal are shared with stakeholders;
  • stakeholder recommendations for a better valuation and dissemination of the results obtained to strengthen the climate governance process are collected;
  • the prospects of the APRI and ENDA-Energy research project in Senegal.
