“Uniting for Local Adaptation: A Recap of the Fourth Day of Climate and Energy Week” 

La quatrième journée de la Semaine Climat de ENDA Énergie, axée sur l’Adaptation menée au niveau local (LLA), a été un moment captivant où des esprits visionnaires se sont réunis pour discuter des défis et des opportunités liés à l’adaptation climatique au Sénégal. Cette journée, qui s’est tenue le 3 août 2023, a été marquée par une série de discussions et de dialogues engageants, mettant en lumière des stratégies novatrices pour assurer un avenir résilient et respectueux du climat.

Après la cérémonie officielle, cette journée a rapidement pris de l’ampleur avec des sessions interactives, dont certaines ont porté sur des thèmes tels que la collaboration entre ENDA ENERGIE et APRI, les projets d’adaptation menée au niveau local (LLA), et la gouvernance climatique au Sénégal. La présentation des résultats de l’étude sur l’aperçu des politiques, initiatives et actions locales en matière de changement climatique au Sénégal et les témoignages inspirants du représentant des habitants de Daga Birame et autres, ont captivé l’auditoire, mettant en lumière les réalisations concrètes dans le domaine de l’adaptation climatique.

The plenary was the perfect time for fruitful exchanges, constructive comments and in-depth answers to the questions asked by the participants. The shared perspectives highlighted the need for a top-down approach in managing adaptation initiatives, involving local communities and field actors from the design phase.

Ibrahima SY a présenté des idées perspicaces sur l’Adaptation Menée au Niveau Local (LLA), soulignant que la résilience est une forme d’adaptation et que le développement durable dépend d’une appropriation locale soutenue par des renforcements de capacité. Les témoignages des acteurs de terrain ont également mis en évidence des solutions créatives allant des pratiques endogènes à l’utilisation de systèmes résilients pour lutter contre les défis climatiques.

The special session on Energy and Agroecological Transitions brought a new dimension to the fourth day of the second edition of Climate and Energy Week. The lively discussions focused on the inclusiveness of the transition process, the long-term low-carbon strategy in Senegal and the launch of an observatory to monitor the just and climate-resilient transition.

The dialogue on energy and agroecological transitions has sparked debates on the best approaches to integrate energy and agricultural aspects, while highlighting the importance of rigorous monitoring of these transitions.

In short, this fourth day of ENDA ENERGIE's Climate Week was a resounding success, marking a crucial step towards innovative and sustainable climate solutions. The recommendations made and perspectives shared will provide a solid foundation to guide future actions.
